History:
Hikaru Shidou is a 14 year old girl from Tokyo, raised in a kendo dojo with and three older brothers. She goes to an all girls' jr. high school, where she is the epitome of the "tomboy". She has a dog named Hikari who has been with her ever since she was little.
While on a field trip with her class to Tokyo Tower, she met two strangers, Umi Ryuzaki and Fuu Houoji, and all three girls were transported to an alternate, magic world called Cephiro. They met a master mage named Guru Clef who gave them armor that evolved with their hearts and strength, and told them they were to become Magic Knights and save the world of Cephiro. They obtained a mineral called escudo and took it to a smith named Presea, who created swords that would evolve with their armor. The girls then went to revive the three rune gods -- or giant robots they would pilot in the final battle to save the Princess Emeraude, the Pillar of that world.
However, while they killed the priest Zagato, whom they thought had imprisoned Emeraude, they found that Emeraude and Zagato had been in a forbidden love, and that Emeraude had summoned the girls to that world to kill her. No one in Cephiro may harm the Pillar, and the Pillar is unable to take her own life, so girls from another world must be summoned to do it. They joined forces, much to their own discontent, and Hikaru's sword was used to kill Princess Emeraude. Not even seconds later, they found themselves back in Tokyo Tower, mere seconds from when they left.
During the second half of the series, Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu were grieving their actions in Cephiro, wanting to go back and change things. During a discussion at Tokyo Tower, a white light took them and they once again found themselves in Cephiro. Except now, that alternate world was falling apart and crumbling without a Pillar to uphold it. Clef and Presea admitted they didn't know who summoned them this time, but guessed that a Pillar must be the cause and vowed to find who brought them. They gave the girls their armor and swords back, making them promise to protect themselves first and Cephiro second.
Three countries: Autozam, Chizeta, and Fahren heard about the Pillar's disappearance and all journeyed down their Roads to acquire the position of Pillar in Cephiro for their own goals. Autozam wanted to study the system for their polluted country, Chizeta wanted a place to expand their borders, and Fahren wanted a world of dreams. The Knights fought them several times, and Hikaru saw the Autozam commander, Eagle Vision while meeting Cephiro's magical swordsman, Lantis in the same first battle.
During one of the Knights' last battles with Autozam, Hikaru ventured into their Road despite Umi having not been able to and then collapsed. Umi and Fuu brought her back to Cephiro's castle until she awoke. Shortly thereafter, all three invading countries began battling each other within Cephiro's borders, only for the Road to the Pillar to open. Mokona appeared and revealed himself to be the creator of Earth and the Cephiro worlds and acknowledged that Hikaru and Eagle both had the strongest hearts in Cephiro. They were taken to the testing ground where they fought. Hikaru was named the new Pillar, and Mokona stated that those who do not possess the Ability would disappear. Refusing to accept that, Hikaru began fighting her way down the Road, insistant to bring Eagle back with her. Mokona then told Lantis and the Knights that if Hikaru persisted, both herself and Eagle would disappear. Umi and Fuu pleaded with Mokona to let them save their friend, so he allowed them down the road to pull the disappearing Hikaru the rest of the way, saving Eagle.
Mokona told Hikaru that because she was the new Pillar, she could make a new promise to Cephiro. With Umi and Fuu helping her, Hikaru changed the Pillar system completely: that world would now be upheld by everyone living there instead of just one person, thus abolishing the Pillar system completely and allowing them to travel back and forth between their world and Cephiro.
Canon Point: volume 6, during the Pillar test
Personality:
Hikaru Shidou may come across as childish and naive, and by all means, she is in some instances. But underneath that, she can be incredibly mature, especially with the needs of the heart. She wants to believe in the best of people, always certain that there is something good inside everyone, no matter how bad they may seem. She can be easily embarrassed and won't always get all the jokes or implications of something until it's spelled out for her. This could sometimes lead to her not fully understanding why two people are arguing or fighting.
Optimistic, easy going, and hard to bring down, Hikaru truly is a happy girl. However, after the events in the first half of the series, Hikaru feels a deep seeded sadness; regret because she didn't know why she was fighting the battle in Cephiro in the end. She's unsure of why Zagato insisted on that fight in the first place, and why Princess Emeraude wasn't allowed to fall in love. With this in mind, she won't rush head-on into any battle without getting all the information she can from the other side first. This means if there is someone causing trouble, she will try her best to get to know them and their reasons first before ever drawing a sword. She feels this way because she does not want to ever regret her actions again.
Hikaru firmly believes that fighting together for a common goal is better than rushing off alone, but in this, she can sometimes be a hypocrite and try to do things on her own, not wanting others to be worried for her when she doesn't think there's a reason to be. She won't hesitate to ask for help if she feels she needs it. She worries for her friends and would risk near death to help protect them if she can (which she has come very close to dying in several canon instances). But Hikaru is known by her friends for trying to take the world upon her shoulders and do everything by herself so her friends won't have to suffer from it.
Game Specific
Suitability:
Despite her innocence and seeming naivety, Hikaru's experience and morals put her at odds with herself as he reasons why she fights and who she fights against. This, coupled with her fighting skills, would make her an interesting competitor to watch as she refuses to fight anyone without first knowing their reason to fight, often leading to her trying to reason mid-battle. She also refuses to fight unfairly or 'dirty', which could also bring an interesting element to the challenged fights.
She does, however, have a berserker button that will bring her to enraged fights without question: hurting her friends. If someone hurts her friends, she will rarely (some exceptions) hesitate to go to town on their asses. With her being so fiercely protective of her friends, knowing they're stuck in these fights will likely make her more prone to fighting if it means their safety.
Weapon:
Hikaru receives a two-handed broadsword, similar in weight and size as her sword in Cephiro but without the nice convenient storage aspect. It requires her actually you know getting in close for melee attacks. Like any sword, really. No big deal. Except the whole 'it can burst into flames' part, for added attack power. Sadly, the flames of the sword will deplete her energy, so the longer she has the flames going, the more exhausted she'll get. No current updates available for this weapon.

Log/Third Person Sample:
This wasn't okay.
This was not okay at all. Things may not have been going great since she arrived here, but she'd found the brighter sides of things -- her friends were here and (while injured) were alive, they had made some friends and allies, they had weapons to defend themselves -- she'd been contacted to fight and it was the last thing she wanted to do. She didn't know who this person was or why they'd asked to fight. Sure, everyone was fighting to get home, but what was waiting for them at home? Was it family? Were they fighting a war outside of this place? Or were they far more sinister? Hikaru didn't know and she couldn't tell by simply looking.
She knew for sure she didn't want to fight this person. Her sword was out but not at the ready. She didn't want to do this, she didn't want to do this. Hikaru closed her eyes, hoping if she opened them, she'd be sitting in her apartment with her friends but no such luck. Her opponent was running towards her ready to attack.
Hikaru watched, her blade up for defense. If she fought this person, she'd likely have to kill them and she didn't want to do that at any cost. But if she didn't, if she loses, then she goes down to a lower rank, and it would take longer for her to go home with her friends. On top of them knowing she'd died in the battlefield and that was something they should never experience. That thought -- the image of Umi and Fuu's distress that Hikaru died, even if it's not permanent -- filled her with a new energy. She was riled and suddenly fighting looked like an option. She wouldn't let her friends suffer through that if she had the ability to ensure it doesn't happen. If she were horribly hurt, they would be upset too. Protecting herself and winning this fight would spare them being upset. So she would fight as long as she can stand.
